Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken breasts (pounded to an even 1-inch thickness)
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 3/4 cup BBQ sauce (such as Sweet Baby Ray’s)
Instructions
- Pat chicken breasts completely dry with paper towels
- Place each chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap
- Pound chicken breasts with a meat mallet to an even 1-inch thickness
- Drizzle olive oil evenly over all sides of the chicken breasts
- Sprinkle kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika evenly over both sides
- Rub the seasonings gently into the chicken
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (375-400°F) and clean the grates thoroughly with a wire brush
- Lightly oil the clean grill grates to prevent sticking
- Place seasoned chicken breasts directly over the heat
- Grill for 4-6 minutes per side, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C)
- Brush BBQ sauce liberally over one side during the last 2 minutes of grilling
- Flip the chicken and brush the other side with BBQ sauce
- Continue grilling for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the sauce to caramelize slightly
- Remove chicken from the grill when the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C)
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer for accuracy and avoid overcooking; carryover heat will finish cooking the meat.
- Ensure all chicken breasts are uniformly pounded for even cooking.
- Brush BBQ sauce on both sides for maximum flavor.
- Use halal/certified non-alcoholic alternatives for the sauce if required.
